• January England move looks on for highly rated Liverpool forward target

There are reports coming out of France that Marseille forward Andre Pierre Gignac looks on the verge of leaving and there is now a possibility in the French club selling him in January. Marseille have being trying to extend this current contact but talks have recently stalled which has alerted the like so Liverpool who are keen to sign the France international.

Le10 Sport have reported in the last few hours that Marseille could now be willing to sell the player in the New Year after failing to come to an agreement with Gignac.

The former Toulouse star has been holding out for a similar salary he is currently getting which is €4m a season. However in the past couple of seasons the French side have put in place a wage policy so no player earns this kind of money anymore at the club so when it did come to talks on his renewal Marseille were not willing to back down on his demands.

The thinking now at the club is that they can get Gignac of the wage bill and try to recoup some of the €13m they paid to sign him in 2010. This would mean having to sell him in the next transfer window as Gignac will be a free agent in the summer and therefore they will lose him on a free transfer.

Last week we covered the story that Dynamo Moscow have already lodged bid for Gignac but it is unlikely he would want to go to Russia.

This will be the 29 year olds last big move and in the past he has spoken about his desire to play in a major league in Europe such as England or Spain. This would rule out a move to Russia and his more likely destination would be somewhere like the Premier League which gives Liverpool an advantage when the transfer window reopens.
